School Athletics Day
Our whole school Athletics Day has been scheduled to take place on Friday 27 October 2023 at the Athletics Grounds on Vogel Street.

WHERE: Cambridge Athletics Grounds, Vogel Street
TIME: 8:30am to 3:00pm
SIGNING UP FOR COMPETITIVE EVENTS:
On Monday 09 October, all students will receive an email from Mrs Hawkins. The email contains a link to a Google Form to sign themselves up as a competitive athlete - this is completely optional.
Students can choose as few or as many competitive events as they like: 100m, 200m, 800m (run on 25 Oct at CMS), 1500m (run at CMS on 30 Oct for Year 7s and 01 Nov for Year 8s Nov), high jump, long jump, shot put (3kg), discus (750g), cricket ball throw (happening at CMS during PE).
All students who don't sign up competitively, will compete non-competitively. Students do not need to sign-up for non-competitive events.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION for PARENTS/CAREGIVERS:
All students are to go directly to the Cambridge Athletics Grounds on Vogel Street in their PE gear and with their school bags containing their lunch, snacks, drink bottles, sunscreen etc. They do not need to wear school uniform.
It is extremely important that students are at the Athletics Grounds by 8:30am at the latest as we are going to have a briefing at 8:45am and start promptly at 9:00am.
Bus students - a staff member will meet our bus students and walk them to the Athletics Grounds and then back again before 3:00pm.
Students are allowed to bike and scooter to the grounds and park their bikes and scooters tidily behind the 100m marshalling area by the clubrooms.
A Police patrol car will be present from 8:00am and again at 3:00pm to slow traffic down and ensure our students can cross the road safely.
Please use the button below to access the timeline for the day - times are approximate and if we run behind for finals and relays we will use 100m and 200m times instead and will have to skip relays altogether. We may be able to hold finals at school on a day when all the runners are available.
